![]() We started out as we always do, just putting together songs, and we realized that it started to become this common theme that was running through all of the songs. It kind of became a concept as we were writing. It’s a larger story-each song is its own thing, but it culminates in something much larger. Is that correct?Įric Bass: It’s probably the closest thing to a concept record that we’ll ever do. Bass is also the producer of the new album. Another key songwriting contributor is Eric Bass, who’s been with the band since 2008. He is the group’s frontman and main songwriter, and he writes most of the lyrics. Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Shinedown was formed in 2001 by Brent Smith. Shinedown has already released videos of two songs: “Devil” (the first single) and “The Human Radio.” ![]() Notably, the band is planning to make videos of every song on the album, to tell the album’s story visually. This is an ambitious album that has a storyline running through all the songs. Shinedown, which consists of Brent Smith (lead vocals), Eric Bass (bass), Zach Myers (lead guitar) and Barry Kerch (drums), is set to release its new album called ATTENTION ATTENTION, on May 4. ![]() Impressively, all five of their previous albums have been certified either platinum or gold, with their 2008 album The Sound of Madness, reaching double platinum.
